The following was sent in to VFW magazines January 2015 issue, Mail Call section by a Rich Delotto of Clifton, N.J.

"When talking about brothers at war, the saga of the Strano family from Winsted, Conn., must be unique. Army Cpl. James C. Strano was KIA while serving with the 1st Cavalry Division in Viet Nam on January 23, 1968.

Meanwhile, on the exact same day, his brother Angelo was captured by the North Koreans when the USS Pueblo was taken. A communications technician, he was held prisoner until Dec. 23, 1968. One can only imagine the emotions of their parents upon receiving the news that January day."

The brother killed that day, James C. Strano, was our very own A Co. 1st 50th trooper awarded the Bronze Star with "V" device for valor. This story was known to the members of the Ichiban battalion but now has been made available to members of the VFW as well.
