Thurman Olan Pike

Postby Jim Sheppard » Fri Apr 10, 2015 11:57 pm

Received this sad news from Dick Guthrie late Friday night:
Dear Friends:

With a heavy heart, I pass on the sad news that Thurman Olin Pike passed away some
minutes ago.

Many of you knew that he was ailing. So much so that I already made reservations to go to
Raleigh before the reunion so I could bring him to Fort Benning.

Today his sister Martha called to say his health had taken a turn for the worse. I spoke
with the Hospice On-Call Nurse and decided to try and go see him ASAP. We were in the
process of finding a reservation when Martha called back to say Thurman had passed away.
If I understand it right, apparently, the lung cancer they couldn't yet operate on
(because he had lost so much weight), likely caused his death.

I'll let you know when I learn what the arrangements will be.
I don't have addresses on others from B Company. Bob Schaller's address just bounced
and I don't know a good one on Bob Knightly. Please forward this to them and anyone
else who may want to know. PLEASE cc me so I can spread the word more efficiently when I
learn the final arrangements.
Thanks,
Dick Guthrie

A copy of this certificate showed up on Facebook yesterday. Quite an honor and a nice tribute to our old friend LT Pike.
