Just received this e-mail advice copy from Dick Guthrie. He received the news from Cheney Bertholf's son this evening.

COL Bertholf:
Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your father.
May his soul rest in peace.
I have passed your sad news to several in our association.

Col Guthrie,
I wanted to report the passing of my dad tonight. He was most proud of his time
with 1st Bn 50th inf (Mech). The casualties suffered while he was in command weighed on
him. I am sure he is now on Fiddler's Green.

May he rest in peace. Colonel Bertholf and his son Dutch were very helpful to John Topper and me while we were working on the DSC award for Jay Copley a few years ago. If anything is known about services or where one can leave condolences, please post here.

I just received an email from his son Dutch Bertholf. The wake was yesterday and the funeral today. Just family. Dutch is very proud of his dad's service with the 1/50th, as is his ohrer son, a former 11B. If you would like, please feel free to send Dutch an email at the address above.
