1st Battalion, 50th Infantry Change of Command Ceremony
June 8, 2016, Fort Benning, Georgia


On Tuesday evening, June 7th, 2016, as has become "tradition", Members of the 50th Infantry Association as well as the outgoing and incoming Battalion Commanders, their Wives and Families....and several other 50th Infantry Soldiers gathered for dinner at Hunter's Pub Steakhouse near Fort Benning Georgia. At the dinner, The dinner outgong commander LTC William A. Kahmann presented gifts to each Association Representative.

Although the last photo was actually taken in 2014 by Mrs. (Mandy) Kahmann, these are the same men who attended the 2016 change of command: Jim Sheppard, Jimmie Segars, Dick Guthrie, William Kahmann, John Topper and Jay Copley.

INCOMING COMMANDER

LIEUTENANT COLONEL FRANK BALTAZAR

LTC Baltazar graduated from Austin Peay State University and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in 1996. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Maneuver Captains Career Course, the Combined Arms Service and Staff School, the Command and General Staff College and the Joint Forces Staff College. LTC Baltazar earned his Masters Degree from Central Michigan University.

LTC Baltazar’s assignments include Commander, Charlie Company 2nd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment at Fort Campbell, KY; Observer Controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, LA; 25th ID Training Officer, and Battalion S3 and XO for 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment at Schofield Barracks, HI; Program Integrator at the Joint IED Defeat Organization in Washington DC, and Small Group Advisor at the Command and General Staff College.

LTC Baltazar’s operational deployments include Operation Joint Guard in Bosnia, two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn, and two tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

LTC Baltazar's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2 OLC), Bronze Star Medal with V device, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC) Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), the Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutist and Air Assault Badges, and Ranger Tab.

LTC Baltazar is married to Audrey (Nee Matro) of Chicago, Illinois. They have three children, Jacob (12), Caleb (10), and Katelyn (8).
