Bill Grant served in Richard Guthrie's infantry company in Vietnam. Dick wrote:

"I remember Bill as a solid, decent man, who did his job and was reliable and trustworthy. He functioned under pressure and we could rely on him to do his job, support his buddies, and be there when we needed him. Everything you could ask for in a soldier and a friend."
