In Late 1966, at the request of then battalion commander LTC Albert L. Hutson, Jr, I volunteered for a 6 month temporary duty tour in Vietnam... preceeded by training at Fort Lee, Virginia in January and February of 1967. I joined "Project Counter" and saw duty in and around the Saigon vicinity....doing inventory of various supply depots and warehouses from March to August. We were attached to the 264th S&S Battalion stationed at Camp Davies on the Saigon River in southern Saigon.
