In order to preclude our unit from having a large number of men complete their tour one year after our arrival in Vietnam, an "INFUSION" program was instituted where groups of personnel would be transferred out to other units in Vietnam.....and those units would, in turn, "INFUSE" troops with varying DEROS dates (Return date to the U.S.) to the 1/50th.
Jim Sheppard is pictured in the lower center (Front) of this group of men waiting to ship to other units in the early summer of 1968. Jim transferred to the Mobile Riverine Force, 9th Infantry Division, where he spent his final months in Vietnam. The man towards the left with the Sunglasses and shirt off is Jay Finley of Headquarters Company.
