I always remember Captain Copley's aggressive stand against the enemy when, after giving us the daily mission, he'd say, "Now let's go lean on chuck." That motivation, along with our battalion goal of 'A gook a day and a firefight a week," kept all of us sharp. Jay's leadership on May 5, 1968, saved a lot of lives in our battle against the NVA. I am proud to have served under his command.

Sorry to hear of Capt. Copley's passing. I just heard about it a few days ago from Fred Maida (Copley's driver on 5/5/68).
If it weren't for their quick action in getting to us on 5th May, those of from left behind from A Co. would not have survived. I literally owed that man my life.

Godspeed Captain - 'Till Fiddler's Green Sir.
