The 1/50 battion aide station namesake, Bruce Sims, received a Silver Star
for his valorous conduct in battle as he ran through withering automatic
weapons fire to try to save Russel Hass. Both were killed in that action in
March of 1968. In this photo, Former Medical Platoon Leader Chuck McAleer stands in the newly dedicated Bruce Sims Battalion Aid Station the the sisters of Russel Haas Susan Anderson and Paula Bantle. |
