I just got word that Mark Hannan, Jan 69-Sep69 is in Sunnyside Hospital, Clackamas, Oregon, room 458, 503-652-2880, suffering throat cancer. The prognosis is still up in the air. Mark may not be able to talk much but I'm sure words of encouragement would be much appreciated. You can contact his good friend and former 2/22 vet Gary Hartt for specifics 503-632-6955, gchartt@bctonline.com.

Gary,

I don't know Mark but have heard his name. Did not know he was from around here. Sounds like he is in the same hospital I was in just before the Reunion. I will give him a call. Thanks for posting.

Russ,
Mark was a fellow Medic and is no doubt responsible for any number of 1/50 Vets still here today...

I just spoke with Mark. He had some difficulty talking or maybe me understanding him as he sounded quite weak. We only talked a couple minutes. I tried to encourage him as best I could and said we would be praying for him. I told him I would call his buddy Gary to stay in touch. I did attempt several times to call Gary but no answer so I took a chance on calling the hospital. It is the same one I was in and they (IMHO) are very good so I think he will have excellent care. Let's keep him in our thoughts and prayers. I will try to go see him if I can.

I finally got a hold of Mark's friend, Gary. We had a pretty long chat. His unit was APC's also. He couldn't give me a lot of information about Mark other than they found cancer September and he has had chemo treatments. I think he went in the hospital because he was quite weak and now has pneumonia. Sounds like he is getting better but not sure about that. I'll call Mark again in a couple days to see if he would like a visit.

I just called Mark and he was in the process of getting discharged. I wished him the best and asked him to come on the board and post. He sounded better this time.

Just got word from Jim Segars that he spoke with Gary Wolff and Things are not going well for Mark Hannan. It is possible that he may be down to just a few weeks left with us.

Jim would like for as many as possible to give a call and offer what prayers and encouragement we can.

Segars and family have been knocked off line for an indefinite period by the resent tornadoes one of which missed the Segar home by 400 yards.
