World War II - A History tidbit

Postby Jim Sheppard » Thu Jun 06, 2013 3:11 pm

The 50th Armored Infantry Battalion was part of the 6th Armored Division in WWII. They did not participate in the Normany beachhead contacts of June 6th...but came ashore shortly after and saw action nearby. They moved in Battalion-sized strength and, as in Vietnam, "B" Company received the first fire. "A" and "C" Company quickly flanked the Nazi attack and the enemy was nuetralized in a short battle.

The 50th Infantry remembers.

Great bit of history regarding the 50th's past. Thanks Jim for your, as usual, tenacious investigative work. Pete
